At Mammas and Beans we are proud to offer “New Baby Osteopathic Health Checks” with our resident Cranial Osteopath Laura Worsfold.

We offer babies, a 20 mins consultation, to assess any restrictions or compression in the body, acquired during birth.
It is a popular belief that babies do not have any structural restrictions throughout their bodies, due to the fact they are so new, but during the delivery the baby's head and body comes under an enormous amount of compression.

The examination, by the osteopath will identify tensions and strains that baby might have experienced during the pregnancy or birth. The moulding to the head and torsions that your baby goes through in birth are normal, but can leave them with irritation in the head, neck and surrounding soft tissues, which could then contribute to a variety of problems such as colic, poor sleeping, inefficient feeding and so on.

Individual advice will be offered at the end of the consultation covering how to best look after new parents posture, when lifting and carrying baby, different feeding positions, baby carriers and slings and winding techniques.
The aim of this session is to offer new parents helpful advice, that they can take away and use.

The Osteopathic Health Check is £5 and all processes go to supporting the neonatal unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital called the Safe Delivery Trust fund.
